Planting apples and Little Mouse's Big Secret!

Over the last week I have read a story to the classes called 'Little Mouse's Big Secret'.  Basically, mouse finds an apple and decides to hide it - he buries it in the ground and in time it grows into an apple tree.  Which lead us to wonder....if you put an apple in the ground, just plonk it in....will it grow?  Some of us are going to test this out.  We will either wind up with smelly old apples rotting away in the ground.  OR we will end up with apple trees!

See the above picture for how I decided to plant my apple.  In a pot, away from the dog.  Who found it anyway and removed it from the pot.  No fear, the apple is back safely, and away from the dog :)
